Welcome to
Amazon Mission 2007
What is the mission of the VCF Team ventures to the Amazon Basin?
The mission is to bless, encouage, support and supply the PAZ mission through work with Nilton Cordiero and family as they plant churches and evangelize the remote river villages, to go where few go, to minister to the few at this end of the earth.
When will the next mission trip happen?
The next team trips will have two opportunites. (1.) Middle to end of July 2007 (2.) Beginning to middle of August 2007..
What will the team be doing while in Brazil?
The team will be traveling on a boat and visiting many villages in an area called the Lago Grande. We will be doing medical clinics, eye clinics (reading and sunglass distribution and blessing the children with games). We will be sharing testimonies and praying for the sick, for deliverance and salvation at every village. Many visits to homes and blessing people where they live will be a part of our ministry. Most of our work is done at sunrise during intercession times, and the rest is walking out those intimate times with the Lord.
What is the minimum age and requirement of a team member?
Mimimum age of a team member is 21. A team member should feel called by God and the call confirmed by the pastor and the team member's immediate family. Taking part in a weekly intercession opportunity is required during the year to prepare for ministry.
How much will this trip cost?
The cost in money is about $3,000 depending on your immunizations and passport situation. Flights run roughly $2,200 and room and board $350. and then you begin to add the other stuff. Team members are entirelv responsible to funding the trip and no fund raisers will be done through team efforts.
How many team members can go on a trip?
No more than 10 team members are able to go at a time because of the size of the boat and the nature of the ministry.
How and when does commitment need to be made for 2006?
By Sunday, September 25, 2006 a $200. nonrefundable pledge contribution will be collected and become a part of a team member's Amazon fund. A passport number (if you have one), an e-mail address that you check regularly (this is how you will be contacted throughout the year), attend the 3 or 4 team meetings throughout the year, and stay in touch with the fellowship on a regular basis.
What are some specific challenges/opportunities of this mission venture?
Part of the great adventure is living in very tight quarters with little to no personal space on a boat (with no escape). It is very hot and humid with little relief; getting clean and dry at the same time is no small miracle. There are many bugs of all sizes and getting heat stoke and sick are easy things to do. Portuguese is only spoken and you might feel a bit left out at times. The huge pluses are that the food is wonderful and the people are the most delightful on the face of the earth. God's grace is ever present because you are called to this. Maturity in spiritual warfare is important although every one on the team watches each other's fronts, backs and sides constantly, and you have heavy intercession covering from home base.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"   And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"
